The Den, a luxury business hotel opens the door at the central business district of Whitefield in Bangalore. Located in the prime location, the hotel definitely serves its primary purpose as a business hotel and at the same time a home to the global travelers who would like to enjoy the luxury with a contemporary twist. With 226 rooms, suites, recreational facilities, and a 24/7 kitchen equipped with most modern fittings make The Den state of the art luxury hotel in the country. The hotel operates with a theme “Eat. Work. Sleep. Play”, a brilliant and beautiful concept which is executed at its best to offer the patrons a slice of everything in a day. The close proximity to the big and established IT parks in the silicon valley of India, Bengaluru, makes it a wise and smart choice among the business travelers.
Me, along with few other press members got invited for the press release, where we got to meet Mr. Vinesh Gupta, the General Manager, and Mr. Sandeep Sahdev, Director of Sales and Marketing. We even got a personal tour of the Hotel from Mr. Sandeep and I am pretty impressed with what they call “The Den”. A modern den for the humans where you find peace and sanctity.
Vinesh Gupta, General Manager, The Den said,
“The Den brand prides itself as being a cultural touchstone that provides state-of-the-art facilities. The Den Bengaluru, will be the epitome of our vision, combining rich local traditions with renowned contemporary touches to deliver a fresh perspective on world-class service. The Den Hotel – A Walkthrough
Spread over a 2.8-acre property in Whitefield, the business capital of Bangalore, the Den is the second hotel property in India which has a full glass facade design after the Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai. The building is over 21 floors high with a rooftop restaurant ‘The Layla’ and a helipad. This makes the hotel an iconic property in the neighborhood both by its height and also by being a head-turner as it shimmers in the sunlight.
There are two entries to the hotel; one is through the main lobby and the second one is for the people who are attending a conference/function in the building. The Den is a valet hotel with a facility to park more than 350 cars underground.
The Eat, Work and Play Elements at The Den
As we walk past the reception in the main lobby, the first thing on our right was ‘The Deli’, an espresso bar specializing in a range of coffees, finest of chocolates, cakes, and bread.
The next stop was ‘The Nest’, a concept that laid out so perfectly that you will be relaxed and at the same time well fed. The ‘Nest’ is a trendy lounge bar with tasteful interiors, gaming stations, and chic furniture. There was also an Xbox room where two players can be seated, slid the door shut and have some adrenaline rush.
The two gaming stations were incorporated into the center table and it comes preloaded with games like Pacman, Tetris etc. As the people started playing the games the sight was reminiscent of my childhood.
The Cave, a 15 seater large screen cinema hall which offers a curated selection of movies. Yes! It does support Netflix. The lounge seating is pretty laid-back and they also do serve foods and beverages as per your convenience.
The Creek, the main restaurant in the hotel which serves food 24/7 is a very important place on the property. It is surrounded by water bodies, a lush green grass outside and is fitted with state-of-the-art kitchen appliances. The alfresco seating surrounded by water bodies and the great Bangalore weather is perfect to enjoy breakfast or a candlelight dinner. The french doors which slid opens make this transition quite easy. With a seating capacity of 116, the Creek believes in live cooking right in front of you.
The kitchen at the Creek is unique in the country, there is also a grill which completely operates on charcoal fuel. The tandoor counter is always ready and happy to serve the delicious foods.
We walked past the Creek and reached the open air area called ‘The Ampii’. The amphi had a couple of fixed seating and has an overall capacity of 1000 people (standing). This place combined with the restaurant is perfect for hosting get-togethers or corporate dinners. The Ampii will be the venue at The Den for New Year bash and all sorts of parties.
We entered the hotel from the second entrance and the first stop was ‘The Arena’. A technically equipped setup with two drop-down screens, seating capacity of 70 and a small podium to address the audience.
Next stop was the Gym, equipped with modern workout machines, all top of the line brands, and a certified instructor to train. The locker rooms come with the sauna.
The Cold Press, right outside the gym corridor, serves you healthy dose of juices to rejuvenate after a great workout session. This juice bar offers a range of juices, smoothies, shakes and health foods.
The one fun thing which is trending these days is the infinity pool. Yes! The Den also has an infinity pool and there were cabanas if in case you want to enjoy the poolside after a relaxing swim. The Sanctuary, the spa experience at the Den offers a mix of all including Thai, Asia massages.
The Forest, the largest ballroom can be used as a single room of 5700 sq feet or can be divided into 2 equal parts creating two smaller venues with 3300 and 2400 sq feet. In effect, the whole room can be filled up with up to a maximum of 700 people. There are a total of 10,000 sq feet banqueting space spread over 5 different venues named Forest, The Camelia, The Rose, The Aster and The Arena.
‘Sleep’ at The Den
For a hotel, the room is the most important part. The rooms in the Den hosts contemporary elegance with business efficiency. Under 4 different categories, the hotel has a total of 226 rooms. The Den suites are designed for a luxurious stay with a breathtaking view of the city. Each room features latest in-room technologies including high-speed internet, mini bar, electronic safe, exclusive espresso machine and a 49-inch flat screen.
The first category of rooms is ‘The Den Room’, though being a base room in the hotel it offers all top of the line facilities including four fixture bathroom with premium bathroom line. The Den Corner Room, which is my favorite and is of 48 rooms in total, have a magnificent two sides view with contemporary furnishing. The Den Studio Room is a 400 sq ft room which is ideal for long staying guests. There are 24 Studio rooms available in the hotel.
The top of the category, below the Den Studio, is the ‘Den Club Room’ and there are 63 rooms of this type. Patrons who are staying in this category get to enjoy more privileges which include; stay in higher floors, lounge facilities, Express check-in and check-out, airport assistance, lounge facilities with exclusive buffet breakfast, boardroom meeting space, tea/coffee service all day long. Overall, the Club room is the ideal choice if you are a business traveler.
On top of this The Den also offers a range of four suites named; the Den Suites, The Loft Suites, The Townhall Suites and The Paramount Suites.
Lunch at the Creek
Me, along with the other members of the press had a great lunch at the Creek restaurant right after the press conference. The buffet spread was great with lot many cuisines to choose from.
I started off with the soup and grabbed a plate to take rest of the main course. Here are some of the pics from the lunch.
There were so many varieties in all categories. The dessert table at least had 20+ varieties to choose from and this is what I had.
Everyone loved Berry Clafouti.
Overall, it was a great experience at The Den. After the tour, the one thing that came to my mind was that the way The Den operates and the hospitality it provides is 100% in par with the mission statement Eat, Work, Sleep and Play. The Den is creating a new way of business operating strategy which is ideal for any millennials whether it’s for business or leisure.
